The Controller, under the supervisor of the Vice President of Finance/Chief Financial Officer, is responsible for the administration and supervision of the accounting department in supporting the CFO in financial operations, as well as facilitating IT/network support.



Duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Administration of Accounting Department
  • Establish strategic goals for the accounting department in line with financial goals of the agency
  • Direct supervision of Accounting Supervisor with additional support for all accounting department staff in all regions
  • Provide VP/CFO with updates regarding concerns expressed by accounting staff
Financial Information Systems
  • Oversee the entry of data into relevant financial information systems
  • Monitor the output of information for relevance and recommend changes to systems as necessary
Fiscal Management
  • Ensure that financial reporting is accurate and completed within agency policies/procedures, service contracts, standards, and regulations
  • Maintain accurate records of all monetary transactions, assets, and liabilities
  • Monitor fiscal procedures and provide recommendations for changes as necessary
  • Interpret financial statements, cost information, and assist the executive management team with cost center administration
  • Maintain knowledge of governmental fiscal regulations as applicable to agency programs
  • Facilitate budget development and amendments in cooperation with the VP/CFO and the executive management team
  • Work with corporate auditors to facilitate annual audits and contract compliance
  • Facilitate IT/network support either directly, or through third party providers
  • Provide reports to the VP/CFO, president, or board of directors as requested
  • Participate on assigned committees
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the VP/CFO



A minimum of a BS, MBA preferred; supervisory experience, strong analytical skills and experience interpreting a strategic vision into an operational model; past experience successfully partnering with IT staff to manage critical financial management systems; an effective communicator at all levels in the organization, with strong oral and written skills and a willingness to share information; a collaborative and flexible style, with a strong service mentality; and creativity, with experience funding activities in ways that both cover costs and improve operations. Experience with a non-profit organization preferred.
