UPMC, Hope Enterprises partner for pediatric therapy

October 07, 2019

WILLIAMSPORT – Through a recent agreement between UPMC Susquehanna and Hope Enterprises, Inc., UPMC Susquehanna will now operate the pediatric patient care services formerly provided by Hope Enterprises in Lycoming County.

As part of the agreement, the team of physical, occupational, and speech therapists from Hope Enterprises, Inc. will become employees of UPMC Susquehanna. Hope Enterprises will continue to own and operate the Children’s Campus located at W. Edwin St. in Williamsport.

“By adding UPMC Susquehanna as the newest community partner to our Children’s Campus, we can expand our services to meet the growing needs of our community,” said Rob Labatch, President, Hope Enterprises, Inc. “UPMC Susquehanna has a strong history of clinical excellence, and when combined with our mission to enhance the lives of people with disabilities by providing them with caring supports and responsive services, it’s a win for all.”

The therapy staff will continue to provide care to pediatric patients at home, in outpatient clinics, or at school. Patients and their families will not notice an immediate change in service. Additional integration and enhancements to the services will occur over time.

“We’re building on the legacy that Hope Enterprises created for our community,” said Joe Wood, director of therapy services, UPMC Susquehanna. “We’re proud to welcome the Hope Enterprises pediatric therapists to our team of highly-skilled and compassionate therapy providers. Together, we’re improving access to much needed services for children and young adults with and without disabilities.”

Hope Enterprises Inc. was founded in 1952 by Williamsport physician Max C. Miller, M.D., and his wife, Leona, as well as other parents and community leaders to provide community services to people with intellectual disabilities.
