Community Employment Services (CES) Summer Experience

This program introduces high school students to work, through two 3-week sessions during summer break.

Session one focuses on “soft skills,” such as teamwork, co-worker and supervisor interactions, personal appearance, and conflict resolution. Session two focuses on “hard skills,” such as resumes, cover letters and applications, interview prep,  mock interviews, and volunteer work experiences.

Program Goals
  • Expose students to places of work and job opportunities in their community
  • Provide work experiences through various “volunteer” work experiences
  • Develop a student’s resume and cover letter
  • Help students prepare mock job applications
  • Practice interviewing for jobs

Who the Program Serves

Individuals with developmental disABILITIES who are current high school students or recent graduates and who are interested in gaining work experience in order to become competitively employed.

Eligibility Requirements

Ages: 15-21 years
We accept referrals from the local Mental Health/Intellectual Disability Office, the Pennsylvania Office of Vocational Rehabilitation and/or an individualized educational plan (IEP) developed through any of our local school districts.

Program Dates and Times

Late June through early August
One week break between the two, three-week sessions.
Monday – Friday: 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.
